While the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, it has been discovered that dilated blood vessels close to the surface of the skin cause many of the typical symptoms of the skin condition. By targeting these blood vessels, laser rosacea treatment is able to seal off these vessels and direct blood flow deeper under the skin surface, where it won’t discolor your skin. This will cause the redness, swelling and discomfort associated with rosacea to dissipate and dramatically improve the appearance of your skin.
Side Effects of Laser Rosacea Therapy:
Immediately after treatment, you may notice some slight bruising in the treated areas. We have found that patients who experience this bruising actually have better long-term reduction of the appearance of their rosacea. Other side effects may include increased redness for a day or two after treatment and a small amount of crusting in the treated areas. Most patients find that one to three treatments are necessary to treat their rosacea. Treatments may last anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour depending on the severity of your rosacea. Most patients find that they can resume normal activities immediately after treatment.
